+ About Guardian Home Program

One of our biggest things we strive for here at First Coast Golden Doodles in the quality of life for our breeding dogs. One of the ways we ensure they are cared for is the best way possible is through Guardian Homes. This approach has helped us scale our breeding program in a healthy and positive way.

By simply limiting the number of dogs we have in our homes we are able to grow and bring in a variety of healthy and genetically sound dogs to our program through this avenue. It also gives us confidence that we can rest assured knowing they are being cared for in an approved and vetted family.

Qualified and approved members of our guardian program receive a free puppy/dog while we retain breeding rights in addition they also receive paid routine yearly vet visits. We will cover all costs associated with breeding and care for/own all litters produced by guardian family dogs.

+ Female / Male Requirements

Owning a female guardian dog:

Once your dog is of age, has passed all of her health testing, and is ready to breed (typically on the second heat cycle) we will arrange with you a time and day for pick up and will remain in our care for the day while we take her to our reproductive Veterinarian for a TCI procedure.

After your dog has completed the TCI procedure she will return to her guardian family who will care for her during her pregnancy. She will then come back to us a week before she is due to whelp her litter.

Once old enough, female dogs will spend at least 6-12 weeks per year in our care to whelp, raise, and wean their puppies (guardian families are always welcome to visit).

Guardians must be able to detect a heat cycle and keep females away from intact male dogs during this time.

Females retire at around the age of 4-5 (typically after having 3-4 litters), after retirement the female will be spayed at our expense and continue to live the remainder of her life with her guardian family.

Owning a male guardian dog:

Once your dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing, and is ready to breed (whenever he has matured) our male dogs will be on call and be available to pick up for a few hours for the TCI vet appointments, typically a few times a year.

Guardians must be able to keep male dogs away from intact female dogs in heat. Males retire at around the age of 6-7, after retirement the male will be neutered and continue to live the remainder of his life with his guardian family.
